Bounce Conditional Use application pulled - WE CANNOT LET OUR GUARD DOWN!

Here's the letter from the lawyer representing the Bounce nightclub, requesting the withdrawal of their application for the 2:00am Conditional Use from the Commission meeting agenda on February 1. Their action is attributed to “ the outpouring of community feedback ”.  In other words, the large majority of Delray residents do NOT want Conditional Use for Bounce or any other establishment operating a late night hard-partying club outside the established Entertainment District. Thank you all for your strong support on this critical issue!  Your combined efforts, letter writing and personal grievances have been heard - loud and clear.  We must also recognize those Commissioners who had already indicated that their vote would be influenced by the strong opposition from local residents. Bounce pulling the application certainly feels like we "won the battle", but there’s no guarantee that we "won the war”.  Given Bounce’s prior aggressive tactics and propaganda, it’s very ...

CLEARING THE AIR

Concerned residents of Delray, Bounce has been making some exaggerated claims and wild promises in trying to secure favors from local elected officials and pacify concerned neighbors.  Well, that's not much a surprise coming from and out-of-state nightclub that's seeking to break the rules before their doors are even open. What's more surprising perhaps, is that several of our Commissioners have been disseminating this Bounce propaganda in their email replies to many concerned Delray residents.  They seem to forget that these are the same residents who elected them .... Some of the items below show a stronger interest in representing out-of-town investors, rather than the many residents in their own town. We won't mention any names (yet!), but here's a snapshot of what a few of our Commissioners have been sending around - and our rebuttal to clear the air: I have met with members of the ownership group several times to express my concerns regarding their request to ...

Palm Trail HOA Urges Commissioners to Vote "NO"

The  Palm Trail Homeowners Association  urges you to vote  NO on the Bounce Sporting Club  conditional use application to stay open until 2:00 am. The noise and disruption to Palm Trail and other nearby neighborhoods is a harm that makes this conditional use incompatible with the surrounding neighborhoods. The Bounce space in the Atlantic Crossing development agreement was approved as a restaurant, and was not expected to in effect extend the Entertainment District. Bounce is claiming to be a restaurant, but its after midnight aspects are clearly those of a nightclub. The Delray Beach City Commission has worked with the Palm Trail and Historic Marina District neighborhoods to mitigate any negative impacts from the Atlantic Crossing project on the neighborhoods to ensure neighborhood compatibility. We urge you to continue to work with the adjacent neighborhoods to mitigate any negative impact from Atlantic Crossing. Neighbors in Palm Trail, Marina District and ...

BOUNCE CONCERNS FROM NEARBY RESIDENTS

Bounce Sporting Club  is an out of town restaurant/nightclub chain that is planning to open a new club in the new Atlantic Crossing project, at the NE corner of Atlantic Ave and NE 7th Ave - where the current zoning requires restaurants and bars to close by midnight.   The club is seeking a "conditional use" permit to remain open until 2:00 am, seven days per week.  Delray already has a large and well-defined Entertainment District that stretches West on Atlantic Avenue, from the Colony Hotel towards Swinton Avenue where restaurants and bars are allowed to stay open until 2:00 am.  This is the area of downtown where many of our restaurants, bars and clubs - such as Johnny Brown’s, Honey, Throw Social, Tin Roof and others are concentrated.  Bounce is located outside these boundaries.   Neighbors and residents have voiced valid concerns about having a late night club in our backyard.  In addition to noise and late night disturbances, there’s a con...

Do you want 300 late-night partiers in your neighborhood?

Everyone enjoys a good time, but this party scene doesn't seem well-aligned with the wholesome atmosphere our Delray officials are trying to foster. It's particularly concerning that Bounce will be located outside Delray's well-established Entertainment District.   Check out the  bouncesportingclub.com   and  wild party videos on YouTube

Delray Beach has struggled to police noisy bars and restaurants. That could soon change. (Sun-Sentinel)

People frequent a stretch of businesses along Atlantic Avenue in Delray Beach on Saturday, Jan. 8, 2022. After receiving hundreds of noise complaints about bars and restaurants, Delray Beach is crafting a stricter noise ordinance that will allow them to enact tougher penalties against violators. John McCall/South Florida Sun-Sentinel/TNS  After receiving hundreds of noise complaints from agitated residents over the past six months, Delray Beach officials have heard the message loud and clear — something needs to be done about bars blasting music late at night  near neighborhoods  .  The city agrees it’s a major issue and needs to be fixed. Officials, however, say they’re hamstrung because the current ordinance is too vague, making it essentially unenforceable.  “When you have a noise ordinance you can’t really enforce because it’s too ambiguous, it really isn’t a noise ordinance,” Delray Beach Mayor Shelly Petrolia said.  That means a stricter noise ordinan...
